Found at 12 mg per 100 ml normal plasma. It is the precursor of the serine protease plasmin which s involved in fibrinolysis.

Activity: greater than 120 units per mg protein. One unit is defined as the amount of the enzyme which hydrolyzes one umole of N-tosyl-L arginine-methyl ester in 30 minutes at 37oC, pH 8.0.
