IL-17A is a member of the IL-17 family of cytokines and plays an important role in anti-bacterial responses. IL-17A exists as either a homodimer or as a heterodimer with IL-17F. Elevated levels of IL-17A are associated with several autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and asthma.
