This orally available aryl admantane molecule upon administration binds and inhibits SK-2, preventing phosphorylation of the pro-apoptotic amino alcohol spingosine to spingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), the lipid mediator that is important for immunomodulation, this phosphorylation prevention of amino alcohol can induce apoptosis and may inhibit cancer cell proliferation.
